All Eyes on Reynoldsburg with Visit from Governor DeWine

Dr. Tracy R. Reed, Superintendent of Reynoldsburg City Schools, took Ohio Governor Mike Dewine, Director- Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Vanderhoff, Director- Ohio Department of Education, Steve Dackin, and our partners at Nationwide Children's Hospital on a tour of the school-based health clinic at RHS' Livingston Campus, with a focus on the vision center.

"80% of learning comes from vision," said Dr. Vanderhoff. "If a child has resources like glasses and access to eye exams, it's the equivalent of adding two to four months of instruction."

In a press release, Governor DeWine spoke about a new children's eyesight program, OhioSEE, which aims to help more Ohio students receive the vision care they need.

"What Reynoldsburg City Schools has accomplished here is really phenomenal," said Governor DeWine. "Students here are able to get not only the primary care they need but also essential vision services, like eye exams and glasses fittings, so they don't miss valuable classroom time. That's exactly what we are going to do with OhioSEE."

"So much of learning is visual," said Superintendent Reed. "We know vision is linked to academic success. Our partnership with Nationwide Children's Hospital ensures our students have access to the eye care they need to succeed in and outside of the classroom."
